Sevenoaks Town’s impressive season just keeps getting better.
They continued their history making FA Vase exploits with a 2-1 win at Southern Combination League leaders Haywards Heath on Tuesday - and now face a third round trip to Hellenic League Thatcham Town on 2nd December.
The win was the perfect boost for club chairman Paul Lansdale who is in Tunbridge Wells Hospital recovering from an operation.
However, it came at a cost with goalkeeper Ben Bridle-Card rated doubtful for Saturday’s trip to Canterbury City. He suffered a quad muscle injury in the first half, but managed to complete the game. Bridle-Card had already made one important early save before Mark Jones continued his prolific scoring touch heading Oaks in front just before the half hour.
Heath dangerman Trevor McCreadie headed the Sussex side level three minutes after the break, before Tom Youngs grabbed the eventual winner eight minutes later.
Billy Bennett seized on a home mistake leading to Youngs finishing with a right foot effort into the far corner.
