The U16's Tandridge team continued their excellent run of form with this 6-2 victory against Coulsdon Eagles.
Sevenoaks dominated possession from the start and for much of the first half Coulsdon were forced to defend. However, on a difficult pitch and with the wind at their backs, Sevenoaks initially struggled to transform their superiority into clear cut chances. They eventually took the lead through Jamie Bingham, whose first touch in a crowded area and composed finish highlighted the first half. With Dan Stone in particular impressing down Sevenoaks’ left, further chances followed and two goals from Jamie Downs gave Sevenoaks a comfortable half time lead.
At the start of the second half, the game was almost turned on its head. Within a minute of the restart, Sevenoaks conceded their first goal in 7 games, when a ball over the top and subsequent scramble in the penalty area fell kindly for one of Coulsdon’s forwards, who finished into an open goal. Moments later, Coulsdon pulled another back following an unstoppable free kick. In danger of throwing the game away, Sevenoaks responded. Toby Fitzmaurice provided a valuable outlet up front and, with Sam Sherratt dropping into the centre of an over-crowded midfield, Sevenoaks re-asserted their dominance. It was Sherratt who settled any nerves with two fine goals to restore Sevenoaks’ three goal advantage. And the game was finally put beyond any doubt thanks to another strong run and finish from man of the match Jamie Downs.
This was another solid performance in a brilliant unbeaten run that now extends to twelve games.
