The Under 16's Tandridge team maintained their excellent run of form with a convincing win against Croydon Youth.
Sevenoaks were on top from the start, but it wasn’t until around fifteen minutes in that they took the lead. Toby Fitzmaurice latched on to a through ball from Sam Sherratt and sent a deft chip over Croydon’s on rushing goalkeeper. Soon after Dan Stone made it two with a close range effort, before Toby Fitzmaurice added two more, the second a brilliant shot that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar, to complete his hat trick. At the other end Alex Theobald - largely untroubled in goal - remained alert and pulled off a brave save towards the end of the half at the feet of Croydon’s centre forward on one of their rare forays forward.
The second half followed much the same pattern. Sevenoaks dominated possession and much of the game was played in Croydon’s half. On the odd occasion Croydon did break, Alex Theobald was on hand to ensure Sevenoaks kept their fifth consecutive clean sheet (and eighth in the last ten games). At the other end, Sevenoaks added five more. Jamie Downs added three to get his own hat trick in one half and man of the match Toby Fitzmaurice got his fourth. The pick of the goals, however, was a rare effort from Alex Morgan. Following a strong run down the right, Lawrence Flarry sent a brilliant cross into the box, where Morgan was on hand to send a perfectly placed header past Croydon’s goalkeeper.
The goal capped another strong performance from Sevenoaks, as they maintain their challenge at the top of the league.
