The Under 16's Tandridge team's recent run of good form came to an end with a below par performance in this loss to Seymour Villa.
Sevenoaks were almost ahead within the first few minutes, but Jamie Downs’ shot came back off the foot of the post and to safety. After that, Sevenoaks fell off the pace and were second to almost every ball. This gave Seymour encouragement and they played the ball around well. This, plus indecision in Sevenoaks’ defence, led to a string of chances for Seymour. However, a mixture of good goalkeeping from Alex Theobald, some last ditch defending, and luck kept the scores level. Then, just before half time and against the run of play, Sevenoaks took the lead, after a fine move down the right set up Henry Phillips who finished from just inside the area.
This should have set Sevenoaks up for a better second half, but it never materialised. Within five minutes of the restart Seymour were level and once again looked the better team. Sevenoaks did create chances and Jamie Downs, Sam Sherratt, and Toby Fitzmaurice were always willing runners up front. But it was Seymour that continued to dominate and their pressure finally told when they took the lead with about ten minutes to go. A third late on sealed the win for Seymour in what was a game to forget for Sevenoaks.
