This week we played Gravesham Girls, who I understand are undefeated Division One winners for the past four years and, although we lost 3-1, we gave them a really good game.
We rode our luck a little but earned that with the tenacity that the team showed. A great run and finish from Lucy Furse, after great work by Jodie Hobson, got us back into the game and we had other chances to narrow the gap, but it wasn't to be.
We continued to pass the ball whenever we could and best of all, the girls worked hard and played for each other. This was by far their best performance since I have been manager and I could not have been prouder of them all.
Well done to them - even in defeat they can hold their heads high. Having won Division Two last season remaining unbeaten in their league campaign, the girls now have a new challenge to compete in Division One. After this result, the rest of the league will know that we are good enough to beat anybody on our day and now so will our girls.
